During the fight, Kamek may spawn Monty Moles from the blocks around the arena. Monty Moles are seen yet again in World 8-Tower during Kamek's boss battle. Despite this, a Monty Mole can be defeated with basically any attack. Monty Moles are commonly seen in large numbers and sometimes near platfrorming sections making them rather bothersome to deal with. Wii where they appear in the main game once again, they appear in World 6-4 and emerge from walls in the background and start running at the heroes upon sight, the wall sprouts out dirt before the Monty Mole bursts from the wall. Monty Moles are seen again in New Super Mario Bros. The Mario Crew amidst several Monty Moles on the Mountain. Everytime a Monty Mole is hit, the KO'd Monty Moles will pile up on the top screen displaying the overall score. In this minigame, Monty Moles are seen emerging from holes and can be whacked with the stylus for points. Normal Monty Moles do appear in the minigame Whack-a-Monty. While regular Monty Moles don't appear in the main story of New Super Mario Bros., a singular Monty Mole piloting the Monty Tank appears as the boss of World 6. Mario must climb up and defeat the Monty Mole the same way by throwing Bob-ombs at him in order to defeat him. Another one is fought at Noki Bay during the first episode where it has corked up the waterfall and is firing huge amounts of pollution around. Mario must throw the Bob-ombs at the Monty Mole three times in order to defeat it. Once Mario gets close, the Monty Mole will start to chuck Bob-ombs at Mario attempting to blow him up. The Monty Mole is first fought in Pinna Park during the second episode where it mainly fires Bullet Bills or Missile Bills at Mario. They mainly operate a cannon and fire projectiles at Mario. Monty Moles appears as bosses in Super Mario Sunshine. A Mega Mushroom can be found in Hazy Maze Cave which can be used to trample over the Monty Moles every time they emerge from their holes to effectively earn infinite 1-Ups. In Super Mario 64 DS their appearance was changed to what would become the modern design, their behavior is also the same. Monty Moles can be defeated with any attack however, more keep coming so this doesn't really do much. In this game, they can emerge from the ground, throw rocks at Mario, and after throwing rocks they disappear under the ground only to remerge and repeat the process again.
Monty Moles appear in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS, where they are found in Hazy Maze Cave and Tall, Tall Mountain. They look and function exactly how they did in Super Mario World, however they can sometimes be plucked out of the ground in certain grass patches and be thrown. 3, normal Monty Moles would reappear as enemies exclusively in the World-e level Ground Work. However, in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, the king of Ice Land is transformed into a Monty Mole. In both of the remakes of Super Mario Bros. Super Mario All-Stars/ Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. Though normal Monty Moles do not appear in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, a confirmed relative to them does appear known as Ragumo. Monty Moles are commonly found early on in the game and appear less towards the end. Monty Moles can be defeated with any attack in Super Mario World, and can also be eaten by Yoshi. Larger Monty Moles called Mega Moles, which the player can ride on also appear.
Monty Moles can charge at Mario or Luigi to attack. They pop out of random places in the ground in this game. Monty Moles first appear in Super Mario World.
